PASSERIFORMES: Eupetidae
Psophodes occidentalis
Morning greeted our remote campsite in the Mulga with the sound of Chiming Wedgebills calling.
Hoping to see and photograph this species, we closed in on their song but we'd disturbed them and they went quiet. We waited quietly in the same area and were rewarded with good but not close views of several birds.
Mainly they kept in the bushes and flew from one shrub to another but on a few occasions, one would use a less concealed vantage point for surveying the neighbourhood, as our subject has in this photo.
